a wrench in the plan

I was never one of those girls that spent a lot of time dreaming of her wedding when I was a little girl. At least I dot remember doing so. It actually wasn’t until maybe after college that I started considering it. And what I realized the last week was that it was a lot easier getting a yes vote for having an Elvis do the marrying and me walking down the isle in something amazing and over the top cool (and cerifiably non-traditional) when the goom was TBD. The idea of anything other than a white dress has been met with a ‘yeah right’. I am happy to report that on many other things though the groom to be and I have been on very much the same page (or at least the same chapter). Negotiations are under way on several points with persuasive power point presentaions on their way.
My mom has always said, “I don’t know how your wedding is going to end up, but I do know its going to be interesting.”. I wish that we could do anmything we wanted without having to convince people that its a good idea. Its our wedding! Let us create the day for ourselves that is equally reflective of both of us and us as a couple and be happy and supportive of anything we say! It’s a dream I know but I can dream it.
Our families love us both, and they have different ways of interacting with this wedding planning thing. I am going to be very excited when we pick a spot and can start making some concrete decisions and giving people more information. Soon. Very soon.

Red Robin is a place for lovers

Last Friday while having a nice dinner at the local Red Robin Mario and I had some wonderful wedding break throughs.

1. website addresses for the wedding and for the web hosting business that we could never come up with a name for.
The blog for the wedding is www.geekwedding.info (which if you have met us makes perfect sense). The second site name was actually a suggested site from GoDaddy.com. Our web hosting company is now called GeekFiesta.com. If that doesn’t make you want to host with us I don’t know what would.

2. Robots in love. I don’t know if there is anything sweeter than robots in love so we are porbaby going to be integrating them into our web site and somehow into the things we send out to people.

3. Hacking together some sort of photo booth would be cool (admittedly this was me driving this one). But subsequent Google searching uncovered several programs that will allow a person to use a digital camera and computer and printer to make the guts of a photo booth. There were even a couple open source programs. I can’t wait to try them.

i luv and hate the bus

As a person who is trying to be more friendly to the environment as well as save money, I appreciate public transportation. But as a somewhat snarky type I get annoyed as hell at some of these biddies on the bus.
I take a bus most days from the park and ride to work and on this bus areots of people who work in the hospitals in the area. The majority of people are like myself in that they take the same bus at the same time every evening. Consequently I get to hear the same ladies bitching about the same damn things every night. (I just remembered I have headphones) ah much better.
I always just want to say, give it up you bitched about this yesterday. And when this goes on in my head I suddenly get scared because I have a tendancy to hold grudges and I fear becoming like these types when I get old and still ride the bus.

I need an elecric car…..
