people waiting for the bus
This is how my day started
It reminded me of the statue in fremont called ‘waiting for the interuban’

I am a northwesterner so of course a little rain didn’t scare me.  What scared me was saturday when it snowed.  It isn’t supposed to snow here, but this is the second time in as many years.  Sunday it slushed a bit then turned to big fat rain drops coupled with really windy conditions all during the day.

Monday morning was a continuation of the rain that had been coming down all night long.  I got out of my car figuring it would be a few minute wait for our bus.  I don’t use umbrellas like the rest of the suckers at the bus stop… but after waiting for the bus for about a half an hour I started to rethink that whole no umbrella idea.  My pants were all wet just from standing there.  And I made the mistake of trying to find out where the bus was on my blackberry which when I was using the phone it got some rain on it, more specifically water got into the trackball area (eek!)

I decided to go home and change so I wouldn’t be all soppy and sad when I got into work.

I tried to call in to work but my phone was all wonky, I got really worried that i had ruined my phone for good.  Doh! thats what I get for trying to use my phone in all situations.

Anyway, if you watched the news (those of you in other parts of the country) we may have made your areas news cast for flooding and the wonderfully windy conditions we have been having.

This morning  i drove to work and it was a totally different view.  As I drove down the highway there was a massive rainbow that was starting from capital hill.  Its definitely a good sign when you see a rainbow coming from where you work.

Last week we decided on a place, The Goldengardens Bathhouse. Once we figured out the place then we had to see what dates they had available. I had called early in our quest for a location and knew that getting a summer saturday was going to be rough. So I called the parks department last week and left a few messages. With the holiday last week it took them until this morning to call me back. In the months of May,June, July and August they had one date available. So we snapped it up!
On May 24th, 2008, Mario and I will get hitched!

I started thinking about all the things that now need to be done. Now that we know the date, we actually have to start planning.

Now we can start planning backwards to figure out when things need to be done and start the fun stuff like invitations and making my dress and figuring out all the brides maides dresses and stuff.

Ok just breath in and out… Mario and I love each other very much and we just need to have the party that we want and Enjoy the hell out of it.

I was never one of those girls that spent a lot of time dreaming of her wedding when I was a little girl. At least I dot remember doing so. It actually wasn’t until maybe after college that I started considering it. And what I realized the last week was that it was a lot easier getting a yes vote for having an Elvis do the marrying and me walking down the isle in something amazing and over the top cool (and cerifiably non-traditional) when the goom was TBD. The idea of anything other than a white dress has been met with a ‘yeah right’. I am happy to report that on many other things though the groom to be and I have been on very much the same page (or at least the same chapter). Negotiations are under way on several points with persuasive power point presentaions on their way.
My mom has always said, “I don’t know how your wedding is going to end up, but I do know its going to be interesting.”. I wish that we could do anmything we wanted without having to convince people that its a good idea. Its our wedding! Let us create the day for ourselves that is equally reflective of both of us and us as a couple and be happy and supportive of anything we say! It’s a dream I know but I can dream it.
Our families love us both, and they have different ways of interacting with this wedding planning thing. I am going to be very excited when we pick a spot and can start making some concrete decisions and giving people more information. Soon. Very soon.
