little by little we get closer to the alter

We made a HUGE list a little while back of all the things we need to get done for the wedding. Now little by little we are getting things checked off. Yesterday we got the marriage license. Its so wierd, after steph says a few words, and we say a few words then we sign a little paper and done! married!

Today I went and got the pattern for my veil, bookmarked a website with a pattern for my garter, and found a pattern for the krenolyn for under my dress. I have a lot of work to do this weekend on my dress, but I am really getting excited.

Ok so my birthday isn’t for another week and a half but mario bought me my present early. Being the geeks that we are the gift involved my computer and a trip to frys. My lover boy bought me two gigs of ram for my computer. I haven’t had much time to play with it yet but so far the Vista side of the machine now works like it should (ie doesn’t choke every time I tell it to open a program) and the linux side just flys. Mario was all excited because now we can get beryl to work on my machine.

getting off the grid.

For a while now I have been intertested in the idea of using solar power to power a greater number of devices. I love gadgets and as mario will tell you I border on obsessive when it comes to trying to find the right mix of gadgety goodness and good battery life. I care about battery life because if one is on the go one might not always be able to convenienty plug in to the wall to recharge when you get low.
So how are the two things related you might ask. Well I will tell you.

Portable solar chargers. In the last few years we have started to see more of the on the market. You let the portable charger chrge and then charge your devices. And usually the charger has adapters so that you could use it on several devices. This would be especially handy if you were going someplace where the electricity is not always on but is sunny (say like the times my mom went to Africa for Habitat for humanity trips). This would also decrease the number of cords and plugs that one would have to deal with.
I think I am going to buy one for my birthday.

Oo I wonder if you used one of this eeepc’s or one of those tiny computers if you could power that?
There is this one kit I am looking at that looks both solid and compact. There is nothing worse than a flimsy gadget. I will post the specs later but the reviews I have seen look good and it only costs €19 which even after the conversion is not that much for something like this.
I have my new obsession. Solar energy for all my gadgets!
