Red Robin is a place for lovers

Last Friday while having a nice dinner at the local Red Robin Mario and I had some wonderful wedding break throughs.

1. website addresses for the wedding and for the web hosting business that we could never come up with a name for.
The blog for the wedding is www.geekwedding.info (which if you have met us makes perfect sense). The second site name was actually a suggested site from GoDaddy.com. Our web hosting company is now called GeekFiesta.com. If that doesn’t make you want to host with us I don’t know what would.

2. Robots in love. I don’t know if there is anything sweeter than robots in love so we are porbaby going to be integrating them into our web site and somehow into the things we send out to people.

3. Hacking together some sort of photo booth would be cool (admittedly this was me driving this one). But subsequent Google searching uncovered several programs that will allow a person to use a digital camera and computer and printer to make the guts of a photo booth. There were even a couple open source programs. I can’t wait to try them.

The family electrician

Last night mario came home to find a very proud of herself Ani. This past summer we got the electricity in the studio hooked up and we have overhead lighting. The outlets were not hooked up because my dad said it would be better to wait to put those in until the drywall was on so I have been running an extension cord from the laundry room or the bedroom to the studio. This worked fine in the summer when the heat was not an issue, but not so well now that its getting freezing out.
Since I have been installing light switches in the kitchen and generally being handy I decided that I would take matters into my own hands and get some power in the studio!

I gathered up my tools, checked the interweb to make sure I had the right idea about what I was going to be doing an voiala! Installed the light switch in just a few minutes.

This gave me such a sense of accomplishment. I mesn I know it wasn’t rocket science, but it was the first time I had done something like that. Well. I guess the second time, I installed some light switches and a new light fixture last week and a few weeks ago (respectively). But still, when I turned on the power to. That outlet and nothing exploded I was psyched. And then when I plugged something in and again nothing exploded AND the thing actually turned on …. Cloud nine.

This is what I love about the studio, I have had my hands on almost every inch of that place and when its done I will be able to say I helped build that.

My next plan is to take this energy and get us motivated to finish the kichen before thanksgiving. Mario said that if it was done we could have everyone over. And then I will be free to focus on the studio fully ( and move all the stuff that is supposed to be in the garage back to the garage)

I suggest that every person who has never done so should learn how to change a light fixture or an out let. It is a surprisingly satisfying activity.

Oooh the agony

I wrote a post this morning from my new blackberry to the blog using opera mini so I could go through the dashboard and as I went to add a category before posting it all disappeared. I think it was trying to auto save. Grrrr. Now I know get the post posted and then edit the fancy stuff later. At least then the text will be up there.
