Today I went to work business as usual. But tomorrow we fly off to Rome, Italy. In the time that Mario and I have been together we have gone on one big trip each fall. The first year we went to St. Thomas for a few days. Last year we went to London for a week, and this year its Rome.
Its so wierd, until today when I was getting the guide books and a phrase book that we really are going to a different country with a different language TOMORROW. This is going to be the first time that I have been somewhere that I don’t speak the language.
So what am I most excited about? Obviously the food is going to be amazing. The sights, the sounds, the smells its going to be so exciting.
Mario is going to bring his phone so we will have access to wi-fi and I will be uploading some pictures and maybe some video.
Well I am off to pack!

Mario never believes me but its true ok….
This is the woman who read ended my almost two months ago. She was behind me in an intersection and the car next to me started going but I was not yet able to pull forward and she seeing the motion of the car next to me and not paying attention started to go as well. Too bad for her I was not yet moving. So she hit me. We pulled over, exchanged information and all that fun stuff. She was nice about everything, and thankfully admitted right away that she was at fault.
I guess she could be nice because she knew her insurance company would be the ones to have fun screwing with me. USAA insurance, for anyone who has to deal with them, BLOWS at customer service when it comes to dealing people who are not their clients. They would assign me an adjuster and I was able to talk to that person a couple of times, then they would magically disappear. They kept dropping the ball on my case, its like I had to hold their hand and say, ok whats next, and when is that going to happen, and who is going to call me back about it and when. And even that didn’t work all the time.
When my case FINALY got transfered to the Total Loss department, the first adjuster it was asigned to it tuns out was going on vacation the day they assigned it to her. Really? is that really the way you people work?? So this other guy took over. He made me an offer quickly, but under the advice of others, I rejected the first offer because my car was in prestine condition, very low miles and all. So he said fax me some comperables in your area, and I did so the next monday. So then making sure that he got the fax as another ordeal, finally i got a hold of someone and they walked it over to him. Then getting this guy to call me back to let me know what the status of the account was oh my goodness impossible. The last straw for me was when he told me he was going to call me back by a certain time, and did not (just like a man) and when I called his machine had been changed to say, “I will be out until Wednesday”. This was the thursday of the Labor day weekend. REALLY?!@#@ Is this really how these people operate?W@@#$# I was pissed. I called back the next day and talked to someone new, and basically made her deal with me then and there that day. In the end, they made me a new offer, far above what I was expecting them to offer me. She told me the check would be in the mail (I seriously thought I was going to have to fight them again if my check didn’t come in time) But it came in the mail at the end of last week, and I was very happy to be done with them. So now, they paid off my car loan, and I was able to pay down some other things (and buy some fun things too).
You know, when I first got this car I used to dream that I would be at my house in the night time, and some drunk driver ( or a non drunk driver) would somehow slam into my car and that it would do enough damage to total it out and get me out from under my 250 a month car payments and my high interest rate, and my high insurance rate. And of course no one in my scenario would have gotten hurt, and it would just be property damage. Who knew that two years later, just after getting my car refinanced, and finally having decent insurance rates someone would hit me hard enough to get my car totalled out.
So now that my loan on my old car was paid off, I could get a new (well new for me) car that I would like and that wouldn’t be as expensive as the last, and that is exactly what I did. So as of a couple of weeks ago I am rollin in a 1998 VW Golf (4-door with sunroof..Yeah baby). I can honestly say that this is the car I should have been driving the last two years. Its not new but its in really good shape. It is a hatchback which is much more my style than a sedan. Its more compact than my last car which is nice when parking. At this point I can honestly say that there is nothing I don’t like about this car.
So Thank you Amber for helping me decrease my auto debt by half, helping me decrease my credit debt by a third and allowing my dog and Mario and I to do obedience classes, and allowing me to buy a new mp3 player to replace the one the smelly man stole from my other car a few months ago. Thank you Amber for helping my enjoy driving my car again. Thank you.
