I can’t remember how I found out about this service, but somehow I got connected to it. YouMail is a cool voicemail service that can be used with cell phones. Basically you sign up (for free) on their site (www.youmail.com), register your phone number, do a couple set up steps on your phone, and you are ready to use their service.

Becoming Mixed

Since about 1998/99 I have been actively working on trying to figure out this thing called identity. For the most part I am set with the whole being a girl part of my identity. Over the last few years I have been doing a lot of reading and thinking about what it means to be a person who has parents from two different cultures, two different races (my dad is not black, does that make him a white-Latino?). I have moved from wondering how I can connect with my Guatemalan cultural history to thinking about what it means to be Latina in the states, what does it mean to be mixed within the pan-Latino* population in the states, and more specifically what it means to be a woman within this context. Dogoween 2006

Here are some pictures from the Mono’s first Dogoween. She did a pretty good job with her costume and all of the puppies running around.

All in all, all of the dogs were pretty cute, and there were some other costumes that I did think were good. Oh well now we have a year to get another costume together that will impress the judges even more than this years.
