SEATOWNGRRL the BLOG!

Categories: General | No Comments

So first post to a new blog.

I have been using the username Seatowngrrl college (or a little after) when I had to get a non college email address.  Seatown of course reffering to Seattle (where I grew up most of my life) and grrl because i feel its a little cooler than spelling it the regular way.  Its funny it was the first online identity that I had (at the time an email address said it all) and I decided that no one else should own this domain (i am greedy, yes.)
This blog (as I will also post in the about me section) will be a more personal blog than my art blog.  My art blog (In the Studio) is dedicated to the art I work on, discussing the themes i am examining in my work, and the various techniques I will be working with and trying out, as well as being a place where I can hopefully create an art community for myself.

The problem with the art blog is that there is a whole other set of things that come up in my personal life, for the most part having to do with race and ethnicity, and questions around mixed (race/ethnicity) issues that are hard to integrate into the art discussion.  I also have a website that is targeted towards the academic, and counseling fields that deals with finding quality research about mixed development issues called Mixed Student Resources.  And while I will be reading lots of academic work and commenting on that, i would like for that to be a site less tied to my personal thoughts and goings on so that it can (hopefully) be of use to people in the student services/higher ed field, counseling field, and others looking for resources about and for mixed race/ethnicity individuals.

So I come here.  Back to my first online persona.  Seatowngrrl.  This will be the place that will include varios aspects of my thinking, as well as allowing me to express my personality a bit.

So I hope anyone reading this will like.
